The views of St Michael's Mount and the harbour were stunning, and the breakfasts on both mornings were very good. The room was lovely and the décor pretty, and the hotel’s location near town was convenient. The restaurant staff at breakfast were welcoming and polite. However, when I arrived I was asked for photo ID, which I didn’t have. The front‑desk gentleman had to call his supervisor to see if I could stay without it, which made me panic and worry I’d have to take a three‑hour train back home. I didn’t realize I needed photo ID until then. It was eventually resolved, but my two nights cost £518, which felt a bit steep for the room I was given. The room was a decent size with brilliant views but was located above the restaurant and bar. The first night the music was quite loud but stopped by 10.30 pm; the second night was quieter. I usually stay in boutique hotels, and I felt the room could have been priced around £220.
