“We were very happy”
The bed was lovely and warm, and the room was excellent; we were pleased with everything and our pet was happy too, with plenty of space. The hand basin seemed to be blocked and it wasn't a great place to wash dishes!
“We'll be back!!!”
The location was quiet, with a really lovely view of the river and hills beyond; we even saw some frolicking sheep in the field opposite the outdoor area, which was a great spot to enjoy a beer and meal. The restaurant had the atmosphere of an age to be preserved; there was no music the night we were there, but it must be awesome when it’s “all go”! Mitch, the front man for the restaurant and accommodation, was friendly, knowledgeable, helpful and patient. The food was delicious with delicate flavors shining through, and the craft beer was some of the best we’ve tasted. The hotel units were pristine and Rebecca the housekeeper deserves praise for this. It would be lovely if the plant boxes in front of the units could be kept up, as in past photos. The odor some mention was there a little; however, after visiting Hokitika Gorge and smelling the same thing among native plants in varying stages of life and decay, we wonder if the smell may very well be the vegetation behind the units… a decaying, innocent culprit :)))?
The spaces were clean. The walls were too noisy, though.
“Simple but fine for a short stay”
The bed was very comfy and the location offered a nice view. The accommodation was very simple but did the job for the night. The radiator was too noisy to turn on, and the room was very cold without it in the winter, but the bedding was lovely and cosy to compensate!
“To quick wanted to stay longer happy with the room could use more drinking glssses but loved it can’t complain for the p”
It was close to all the locations I like to explore. There was no clear outdoor tap to use if I needed to clean something, and I could have had electric blankets in winter, but overall it wasn’t freezing and it was good value for money.
