The central location, making it easy to reach the Rhine or the Bergisches Land, was important to us and it worked. The rustic décor of the restaurant, with furniture and decorations from past centuries, matched the post office‑style hotel. The single rooms were spartan but functional. The self‑check‑in via emailed codes at the end of a mail could be better, especially if communicated in German. The adjacent single rooms were very noisy.
“Komme gerne wieder”
The room was very modern and clean, a bit small but still good. Everything else was fine.
“Zimmer ok- Organisation schlecht”
The room was very clean and good value for the money. The feather beds and the lack of an allergen‑friendly mattress or a simple wool blanket were a drawback. We never received a check‑in email and stood outside the hotel where no one was available, so we had to keep calling to get room access. The communication was lacking.
The room was very nice.
The building’s authenticity was a highlight, and the room we stayed in was dated but very clean. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful. A pastry shop next to the hotel was also open on Sundays. We slept in a room that hadn’t been renovated yet, which was a pity, but it was still very clean. The mattress was too soft for us, though another guest might love it.
