When we arrived drenched from the typhoon, they immediately handed us towels to dry off, and although I mistakenly got a smoking room instead of a non‑smoking one, there was hardly any lingering cigarette smell; the Japanese‑style breakfast was delicious, but the sudden pressure change from the storm caused dust from the bathroom vent to fall into the tub, which was a minor disappointment.

The pork miso soup and fish at breakfast were delicious; the hidden ginger in the miso soup was a nice touch.

Even though they usually don’t offer birthday perks, they gave us chilled mineral water that was very refreshing, and a local‑flavored dashi packet that lifted my spirits in the morning; the easy access to the golf course we were heading to was also a big help.
