The location is unbeatable, no matter where you’re headed. The staff were fantastic and handled everything smoothly. Both dinner and breakfast were top‑tier. I’ll tell anyone I know to book here and I’ll come back myself.

Thanks! My stay at Fujiya was wonderful and I’d love to return. The staff were friendly, helpful, and even cleaned my shoes for me. Their English was excellent.

Fujiya is a gorgeous ryokan right in the heart of Kurokawa town. We enjoyed strolling around in yukata, hopping from one onsen to the next. The food was amazing, served in a private dining room, and the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, I lowered the rating because of our room. While most rooms overlook the river, ours faced the mountain and was directly above the large machine that powers the onsen, so the mechanical rumble was constant—even at night—making it impossible to sleep and forcing us to request a room change, which they kindly arranged. If the inn is full, that might not be possible. If you’re sensitive to noise, I wouldn’t recommend it; it was worse than any city hotel we’ve stayed in Japan. Aside from the sleep issue, it really takes away from the peaceful mountain retreat vibe.

The ryokan was beautiful with staff who were exceptionally warm. The meals were outstanding, the baths unforgettable, and the evening observation deck was a pleasant surprise. My room was very comfortable, offering quiet views over the bridge and the river.

The old‑world charm and service were delightful. The food was delicious and refined. Nothing to add.
