The onsen was amazing, the service great, and the rooms comfy – definitely the top pick for Kyoto. I loved the Japanese breakfast each morning, but a slightly larger selection would have been nicer. I couldn’t book the restaurant without 24‑hour notice, which was a problem on the first night.

From the moment we arrived, we were met with exceptional hospitality; the staff was always attentive, friendly, and ready to help. The room was spacious, comfortable, and beautifully designed with a traditional Japanese touch. It’s just a five‑minute walk from Kyoto’s historic district, yet tucked away on an incredibly quiet street. Breakfast, the common areas, and the room terrace—where we watched gorgeous sunsets—were all highlights. Everything felt thoughtful and relaxing. I would definitely stay here again on my next Kyoto trip. Highly recommended!

The hotel is old but seems to be well maintained, and its proximity to Chausu‑sa was great. I paid for a private spa and had a good time until I saw water‑borne insects floating in the water, which startled my child. I told the staff, but they said it was harmless and told me it was fine. I was not at all okay with that.

The location and staff were amazing! I don’t know why this place doesn’t get more online reviews. It’s an easy walk to everything while still feeling private. The grounds were lovely, and we had a private balcony and a very spacious room. I loved the cedar bathtub and the sake for the bath. The food was delicious! The staff earned 10 stars—they were so nice, accommodated every request, offered welcome tea and cakes, carried our luggage to the room, and provided laundry services. My husband was ill, so they helped me and even made rice balls from the kitchen because he couldn’t eat dinner. I love this hotel so much. Nothing was wrong; everything was wonderful!
