The kitchen had all the equipment I needed and the room was exactly what I had imagined – comfy and tidy. The only downside was the steep stairs up to the top floor, which were a bit of a challenge for an older person like me.
“Adequate for our needs.”
No breakfast was offered. The steep staircase was poorly lit, and the mattress had a sweat smell. The parking bays had worn-out markings that made it hard to know which bay was mine. There was no clear information in the house‑servicing emails.
“Uncomfortable to say the least”
Nothing to say. The only problem was a dead wasp in the bed.
“Would not recommend”
The property was in a terrible state of repair: walls were chipped, marked and a dent ran down the plaster; only one window could be opened because the other’s handle had come off and was left on the sill. Blinds were cracked and broken, cooking and eating utensils were dirty and chipped. Upon arrival I learned the garden was off limits because the decking was unsafe, as noted on the door, and the outside area was littered with dirty takeaway containers and a huge pot full of cigarette butts. The heating was on during a heatwave, making the place smell even worse. The fridge was dirty and stank badly. I couldn’t unpack because the drawers were dirty and still had food remnants. The small bath tub, when wet, didn’t smell pleasant; there were no hand towels, no soap, and I had to buy toilet rolls after three days. Bathroom mats were brown and stained instead of the expected grey and white pattern. I could feel the springs through my mattress. There was only one allocated parking space for a multi-let property, and parking was restricted on all surrounding streets. I would not recommend anyone to stay at this property.
“Disappointed with the blue substance throughout the bathroom at an otherwise ok budget accommodation”
Self‑check‑in was easy. The bed was clean and comfortable. The kitchen was spacious with a good gas hob, and the location was central, just a short walk to the town for a great breakfast at Toast. The bedroom wasn’t very clean; I found noticeable human hairs on the floor. I paid extra for a private bathroom but avoided using it because a blue substance covered the sink and shower unit. I only used the toilet and the sink to brush my teeth. I contacted the property hoping for a refund and a chance to write a more positive review, but they dismissed the blue substance as a stain (which it wasn’t) and offered no compensation. The kitchen, though a bit grubby, was acceptable for a shared space, but it lacked a decent kitchen knife and there were no forks in the drawer or on the dryer. I’m fine with low‑budget accommodation, but I expect proper cleaning and better customer service when issues arise. I run a low‑end budget accommodation myself, and I would never expect guests to accept this standard; I would be embarrassed to say it’s acceptable even on a low budget.
