“Very clean and comfortable, excellent staff.”
The hotel was very close to the wedding venue and the staff went above and beyond. The stairs to the rooms were very steep, and the carpets and decorations look tired and need updating.
The location was great and the staff were lovely, but the rooms felt too old, the bed was tiny and uncomfortable, and I didn’t sleep well.
“Awful - couldn’t sleep as rock hard bed, room next door had a sausage dog barking at 4:30am, bathroom so awful we shower”
The room was dark, full of dust and dirt under the bed and around the units; the bathroom was mouldy and stale, and the bed was one of the hardest and most uncomfortable I've ever slept on. I had to call to pay before I arrived, even though they had said I’d be there at 8 pm and I hadn’t known about that, and I’d messaged them the morning to confirm I’d be arriving before 6 pm, which they had already acted on!
The room was reasonably quiet despite being near a busy road, and we appreciated having a field next to it where we could let our dog run before heading out for the day. The room was smaller than I expected for an Executive suite and could use a spruce‑up and fresh paint. I thought I had paid for a ground‑level room, since I was just recovering from hip surgery and hadn’t been away for 10 months, but reception said all rooms were full; still, climbing 14 steep stairs to the room was a struggle. I paid for breakfast in advance, only to find out they serve only turkey bacon, not pork bacon, which was annoying because I would have gone elsewhere for an English breakfast. Toby Carvery is nearby and lets dogs in the bar area. Aside from that, we had a nice break.
The place is super family‑friendly and dog‑friendly, with warm staff and a lovely spot.
