Zachari Dunes on Mandalay Beach

Everything was perfect for our brief visit, and we’ll definitely return for a longer stay.

“The beach made it all worthwhile! I would stay at Zachari Dunes again.”

Our room was roomy, very comfy, on the first floor overlooking the beach – the location was fantastic! It had a small microwave, mini fridge, and a bar area. Two bathrooms were a real convenience, and the ice machine was close by, which was nice. We stayed two nights during one of the hottest days of the year, and the AC couldn’t cope with the 102‑103+ °F heat wave. The unit ran at full blast all day and night; the air from the vents was cool, but the room stayed in the high 70s during the day and mid‑70s at night – better than outside but still not cool enough. The NesCafe coffee maker was on its last legs; we managed a cup after four or five tries, but it leaked. We brought our small dog, and the carpet in the pet room had a few unidentifiable stains – not terrible but not spotless either. We keep our home and dog very clean, so we wish hotels could match that level of carpet cleanliness when traveling with pets.

The resort’s location was the only redeeming factor; the property didn’t live up to the price you pay for a resort.

“Quiet romantic getaway right up on a peaceful Beach”

The ocean‑view room’s location was great, and it was quiet—no boom boxes or beach parties, at least mid‑week when we were there. With the window open, we could hear the surf all night. Small shortcomings included a dining table, bar sink, microwave, and mini fridge but no bar towel, cutlery, paper towels, or dishes; lightweight paper cups for coffee were used instead of mugs.
