Japamala Resort by Samadhi

Japamala Resort is a fantastic place to spend a holiday; the staff are very helpful and show great hospitality; the breakfast and overall food are delicious, and the bartender serves magical drinks. The air conditioner in our room turned off itself now and then, but otherwise the room was very nice and the bed was royal class.

“Très bien, mais...”

I had a great stay at this hotel, surrounded by a beautiful isolated setting, right by the sea and in the jungle—perfect for unwinding! The accommodation was very comfortable, the staff were perfect, discreet and attentive, and the breakfast was high quality and varied. The spa experience was also very good. However, there were a few issues: 1/ the sheets were stained (though the stains were clean); 2/ the restaurant really didn't live up to the rest of the property (a pity because it's the only restaurant on site). It had a very poor value for money: expensive and very simple compared to the price of the room. 3/ we were disappointed by a lack of clarity on several points: taxes appeared on the final bill and were not advertised in the hotel’s offer (restaurant menu and spa card). Moreover, the transfer from the hotel to the Genting port (or the nearby embarkation point) to catch the ferry on the day of departure was charged without prior notice, with an inflated cost (65rm) for 5 minutes of boat travel, which tarnished our experience at this beautiful place.

“Beautiful remote resort in the mountains with private beach access.”

Very good remote resort and beautiful setting. The staff (Saw, Mike and Shishir) were incredible and made the whole experience wonderful. Overall a good experience if you want to take a break away from the city. Check which rooms you book. Rooms 1,2 and 3 are not very private and are visible from the common areas. This can be fixed by the hotel quite easily with curtains and fencing etc. No wellness activity for what is actually a wellness hotel - yoga classes or group hikes would be good addition. They have spa massage which was average. Restaurants need to have more variety - we stayed for a whole week there so by the end of the week we had eaten everything on the menu

It feels like my Shangri‑la. The scenery is very beautiful: jungle, sea, beach. The food, especially lunch and dinner, needs improvement.

The service was impeccable. The staff were super attentive, generous, polite and friendly. The food was equally excellent—surprising because hotel food is usually not this good. Kudos to the chefs and F&B team. The environment was peaceful and tranquil, with a beautiful sandy beach. The rooms were large, spacious and full of character. Housekeeping did a wonderful job, cleaning the rooms very often and keeping them sparkling. The only downside was the room lighting, which was quite dim. The resort also turns all lights off after 10 pm, which can be problematic when walking back to our rooms on the high hills; we had to climb many wooden steps in the dark before reaching the rooms. The resort had only one kayak for one person.
