Breakfast service was very good and the offer was normal, though the healthy options were limited. For $350 the room was simply too loud; all night we heard the AC from the neighboring rooms.

We’ve stayed at the Benbow for forty years and always love its English countryside vibe, but this time the service fell short—staff were thin, we had to ask for the patio to be swept of debris, fresh towels arrived daily but the bed wasn’t straightened, we requested toilet paper and a burnt-out lightbulb replacement, and those small oversights slipped through unnoticed, so the service didn’t meet our usual expectations.

Just off the highway, the place feels dark, old, and a bit haunted; the AC isn’t great, so the room was 87 degrees when I checked in and it took hours to get comfortable.

Dinner was average but edible, yet we parked at the extreme rear of the hotel, had prepaid for the room, found dust everywhere, and the wait staff treated acknowledging food allergies as a favor.

The stay was comfortable and elegant for us and our little dog.
