The surroundings, décor, and location were all good, but because it’s an older house, the wooden floor made noise and the upstairs tenant woke up several times during the night, so I couldn’t sleep.

It’s a charming hotel treat, meticulously cared for by the owners who live on site and the staff. “I’d take everything they use to decorate the rooms,” I said. The place is quiet and the rooms are very comfortable and fully equipped. Manuela, the owner, is extraordinary and the best local guide. Breakfast is full‑fledged and personalized for me. Lovely, free parking without reservations. The only note: you’ll need a car to get anywhere—Ampuero and Laredo are 10 minutes away, Santander 30 minutes.

Parking was fine, but the price was too high for what was offered; there was no TV, breakfast was disappointing, and the blankets and beds felt damp.

The façade was the only thing I liked. We booked because there was an event in the gardens, but at the last minute they backed out and didn’t allow us to use the space, even though they had raised the room rates to double the usual price, as confirmed by town residents. The room smelled very strong, had dust and cobwebs, and I can’t understand the high cleanliness rating.
