Everything was simply perfect, and we were fortunate to have the lovely Hiroko looking after us in the dining room.

The large Japanese‑style room was beautiful, the tatami were super comfortable for sleeping, and both dinner and breakfast were extraordinary—purely Japanese! The lounge offered free drinks, which was a nice touch.

The meals were wonderful, especially the freshly cooked rice, and the staff were kind and offered hospitality you don’t experience in everyday life. I was able to relax comfortably on a weekday.

Other reviews about the ryokan are accurate. This is a place to come and unwind for one or two nights. The setting is beautiful and serene with a great onsen, but it’s slightly out of the way to get to—though the staff will pick you up and drop you off directly from the JR station. Don’t expect a super modern room; it has a sort of 20th‑century feel (in a good way). The evening meal had some of the freshest tasting seafood I have ever had (mid‑February).
