Mizno Hotel sits atop a hill overlooking Lake Kawaguchi and Mount Fuji, offering panoramic views from every room. A 5‑minute drive from Kawaguchiko Station, it blends Western beds with traditional futon tatami rooms, all air‑conditioned with LCD TVs and Yukata robes. Guests enjoy a French dinner, private open‑air bath, sauna, and a bar‑library. Free parking, shuttle, and English staff enhance convenience.

The balcony offers an excellent view, and I enjoyed the bicycle. Overall a great hotel, except for the wall hanging above the bed that I found disrespectful. I didn’t like the sexually explicit painting or wall‑mounted art in the room I stayed in; I covered it with a towel because I found it gross and disrespectful.

The room had a view of Mt. Fuji on clear days; the first day was cloudy so we missed it, but the next day was beautiful and the view was great. The staff and service were outstanding, everyone friendly and helpful. We also liked the free electric‑assist bicycles; on a sunny day we rode around the lake, about 12 miles, and the electric assist made it great. All our meals were at the restaurant, the food was plentiful and good quality for a fair price. They also accommodated a party member with a severe shellfish allergy. The private onsen on the roof deck was a highlight, with many seating areas offering a great view of Mt. Fuji. The lobby furniture and decor are a little eclectic, mixing European and Japanese styles, and some pieces look dated. The hotel seems to cater more to international travellers, as we didn’t see many locals. The restaurant’s service and food were good, but there are only two choices for breakfast and dinner, and the breakfast is a western style.
