A very family‑friendly homestay, with a wonderfully warm family that helped with every question, and a very tasty breakfast.

It felt more like a homestay, run by a delightful family who were always obliging; the place was clean and tidy, my room had a fridge and air‑con, and there was a shared balcony for breakfast overlooking trees with many birds; it’s only a 5‑minute walk from the west end of Marissa beach, if you cut through the restaurants along the beach, and a 15‑20 minute walk to the not‑so‑secret Secret beach; you can also catch the local bus all the way along the coast to Galle and beyond, just at the end of the street; I can’t think of a single complaint.

It was a wonderful place; the family that owned Sethun House was very service‑oriented; the breakfast was good and varied; I would recommend the place.

We chose this spot because it’s far from the noisy roads with uneven tuktuks and chaotic buses, and there are no loud parties or music nearby. It’s quiet, peaceful, and close to the beach, with a quiet road leading there. We’re thrilled we picked this option instead of ones closer to the beach but through the terrible noisy Main Street. Breakfasts on the balcony were delicious and varied, and the hosts were the kindest. The rooms were clean, with housekeeping every three days and fresh bed linen. Air conditioning, ceiling fan, refrigerator, water heater, and kettle all worked, and the bathroom was clean and in good condition. Free Wi‑Fi was available. The price‑quality ratio is good. The only downside was that a few times early in the morning we were woken by construction noises from the neighboring building.
