The “black Rooster” isn’t the newest model, but it lets you blend in as a local (locals pass!) and you don’t stand out as a tourist. With this type of accommodation you’re always in the front row like a safari, and you can choose the best spots for the day (if it’s not about actually sleeping, you can set up anywhere) depending on your daily needs, which is a dream on an island that’s partly developed for tourism. Outside the hotels, “my car is my castle” and you have everything you need. OK, booking isn’t the typical platform for renting travel vans, so it isn’t really prepared for the specific questions and information about this model. I would have liked more details in advance about the additional tasks (insurance, campsite reservations, etc.) and their approximate costs. In hindsight it wasn’t a problem, but knowing this at the time of booking would have made it easier. => So don’t be discouraged and enjoy the tour.

We loved how easy it was to pick up the car and how much gear and supplies were loaded inside! We had everything we needed and more. The owners were absolutely wonderful and very helpful, responding quickly and making us feel welcome. This trip felt almost too good to be true. Everything was great!

The car came fully equipped with a cooking stove, accessories for cooking, eating, and cleaning, as well as mattresses, a tent, and sleeping gear. Everything was organized neatly. Picking up and dropping off the car was super simple, and the host was very friendly. We received a lot of useful information and tips on where to go, and we had five incredible days around Maui—an unforgettable memory! Not the hosts’ fault, but be ready for the fact that sleeping in a car or tent without AC for several days in hot, humid weather can be tough. It’s not a vacation; it’s an adventure!
