How guests rate the property, aspect by aspect.
The place is truly amazing, with spectacular landscapes and views, excellent food, and a very comfortable lodge. Most staff were friendly, but some seemed to judge guests by their budget and whether they booked lodge activities (we didn’t), such as giving us tractor rides while others got vans, and repeatedly suggesting we leave a day before check‑out for a port visit because of our flight schedule. Still, overall they were very kind and pleasant.

Everything was luxurious and the place lets you dive into the country’s color, feeling like a fairy tale. The only downside was that it wasn’t very clean—floors were dusty—likely because the house is old.

The view over the lake and river, the quality of the meals, the shared table with other guests, and the nearby waterfall near the lodge were all highlights.

We were greeted warmly from the moment the staff picked us up on their boat, with a pick‑up snack that set the tone. The patio lunch was stunningly presented and delicious, and the on‑site waterfall offered a refreshing dip while the resident dogs made the place feel like home. Our room featured a king bed and a lovely bathroom with hot water and a claw‑foot tub. Dinner, served in the dining room alongside other guests, was tasty and gave us a chance to chat with fellow travelers. Though we only stayed one night, I highly recommend this spot for a cool experience on Lake Tagua Tagua; there are activities, but we didn’t have time to hike in the park or fish. I would have liked the ability to swim in the lake, but that doesn’t seem to be available; maybe canoeing or kayaking would work instead.

This lodge is the best experience in America so far; only the high‑end safari lodges in Southern Africa, which cost ten times more, match the amazing setting, food, and overall experience at Barraco❤️. It’s clear that this place used to be the holiday home of a wealthy Chilean family, so visiting feels like dropping by good friends’ house, which works best when you blend in.
