An amazing historic property in a superb spot, just a short walk from a pub across the road. Iain was a fantastic host, offering plenty of useful tips for local walks, and the cooked breakfast was wonderful. The facilities and rooms could use a small upgrade.

The location is good and the rooms are comfortable. The garden needs some care.

We let the host know we were arriving late, which was fine. We were upgraded to a nicer room because the landlord had an issue with the one we originally booked. We arranged breakfast, which was pleasant. We were able to hop over the road to the Badger pub, watch the badgers feed, and take some close‑up photos. We only stayed two nights and didn’t get to explore much; we’ll need to stay longer next time.

A period property in a fantastic location. The potential is obvious when you enter through the side door on the main road, but it’s nothing like the photos you see when booking.

The location was fabulous. The hotel welcomed us warmly despite some difficulties. The host was not very good, but the staff stepped in.
