They didn’t put us in a ground‑floor room, and we found bugs and a cockroach on the bed; they immediately moved us to a higher room that was nice, bright, and comfortable, with a terrace overlooking a beautiful jungle view—seeing Kinabalu from the terrace was relaxing. The staff were very kind. The only downside was how difficult transportation was there; there’s no grab service and everything slows down, but the receptionists always help you call a taxi.
“Beatiful location to calm down”
The hotel is very beautiful, everything is spotless, and the staff are very helpful. Breakfast and dinner were delicious—thanks a lot to the cooks!
“Wonderful and Worth the pay”
The team here are incredibly warm and welcoming, and they let us stash our bags while we trek up Mount Kinabalu. We could even order lunch for the hike, and they went out of their way to set up transport to the Kinabalu HQ. The room comes with all the basics—slippers, towels, toilet paper, and the usual toiletries—just missing a toothbrush and toothpaste. If you’re after a genuine kampung house feel, there’s nothing to complain about.
“Absoluter Horror.”
The staff were friendly, yet the whole experience was horrific—as if staying at Jeffrey Dahmer’s place. Anyone giving more than one star must have booked the most expensive room. We have never felt so uncomfortable in any Asian hotel. We didn’t unpack, didn’t shower, and avoided the room as long as possible, finally checking out after one night and forfeiting the second night we had already paid for. The staff didn’t even ask what was wrong when we left a day early.
“Utterly surprise…”
The host was friendly and helpful, the place was clean, and the view was superb. There are steps, but that’s fine—it’s part of Kundasang.
