The fridge and freezer worked, but that was about it. First, I was charged a deposit twice after they said my card wouldn’t go through; one charge was refunded, the other is still pending—another $250.00 that I can’t use on my own card. Second, the window was broken and heavy, so I had to prop it open with an ice bucket. Third, there was no AC, so with an open window and no screen I had to rely on a loud fan; the industrial white‑noise machine they offered wasn’t loud enough to mask screaming fights or second‑hand smoke. Fourth, the first room they handed me wasn’t cleaned or ready, so they swapped it for a room that was ready but smelled of cigarette smoke. Fifth, I called the lobby several times about a food delivery and ended up having to go down in person, where they made me write a note on a notepad that already had scribbles. Sixth, I had to ring a doorbell to get in (no card‑in/out security), and when it was time to leave they told me to leave the door ajar so I could get back in because it was 5:45 am. Seventh, it’s not a good spot if you’re having surgery—dirty, gross, and the Google listing hasn’t been updated since the business was bought. Eighth, no one takes responsibility or cares about your concerns except maybe one person.

The staff were friendly and the lift room service was fast every day. They could add more coffee pads, and the shower could use an update—it’s clean but not fully functional.

It’s dirty and the staff were disgustingly rude.

The staff were very helpful and let us store our bags before and after our stay. The room was a good size, clean, and the beds were very comfortable. The location was excellent—very close to Union Square, the Powell St cable car, and within walking distance to Fisherman’s Wharf, Lombard St, and Coit Tower—if you’re willing to walk a few kilometres. I’d stay there again; it’s good value for money and near many great restaurants. Highly recommend. The building is old and starting to show its age, but it’s well maintained. We asked for a quiet room, and it would have been if we could keep the window closed, but because there’s no AC and it was hot we slept with the window open, which let us hear someone else’s AC unit on the next building all night along with traffic noise and sirens. Ear plugs solved most of this.
