I just stayed at this amazing Maayo villa and it was unforgettable! From the instant we arrived, the hospitality was the warmest. The villa’s design was gorgeous, mixing comfort with elegance. The roomy rooms, calm vibe, and well‑thought‑out interiors made us feel right at home. What really set the stay apart was the kindness and attentiveness of the owner Mr. Akalanka and his parents—they went above and beyond to meet every need and made us feel like family. The Sri Lankan meals they cooked were a highlight—authentic, flavorful, and full of love. From fragrant rice and curry to mouth‑watering rotti, each dish was a treat. If you want a peaceful escape with excellent service and genuine Sri Lankan charm near Hikkaduwa, this villa is the spot. I wholeheartedly recommend it and can’t wait to return.

We had a great time at this cozy spot and were lucky to have the whole place to ourselves. The hosts, especially Mr. Akalanka, looked after us all day and were incredibly kind. We arrived around midnight because of work, and they were so understanding, staying up to let us in without any complaints. Even at that hour, they offered welcome drinks and towels to freshen up. The entire place was spotless, and the hosts really went the extra mile to keep us comfortable. Unfortunately, we had to check out early, but we still enjoyed the tasty English and Sri Lankan breakfast before leaving. I highly recommend this place for two or three people who want to stay and explore around Galle (Hikkaduwa). It’s a short, easy bus ride (15‑20 minutes) to Hikkaduwa. They have a shared kitchen with a gas cooker, microwave, and kettle. The area is peaceful, giving a calm atmosphere to enjoy the beautiful garden surroundings. I don’t have many dislikes, but maybe some board or card games for groups would be nice, and a pool would be a nice addition as the place grows.

Our stay at the Maayo Property was phenomenal. We had a very relaxing night after a long flight from Australia to Sri Lanka. Experiencing the pure Sri Lankan village vibe right after we landed was the highlight. The host “Chali” was friendly and attentive, giving us a soothing experience. The rooms were well equipped and exceptionally clean. Breakfast was delicious—we chose the Sri Lankan Traditional Breakfast. We strongly recommend this place for anyone and will definitely return next time. There’s nothing to complain about this property.
