The only thing that made the trip worthwhile was the onsen, and the shuttle service was a nice touch. The food, however, was disappointing; it didn’t match the phenomenal reviews and was hard to eat, especially since the place is so remote that ordering pizza isn’t an option. The rooms smelled musty, the staff didn’t speak any English, and there was no “Do Not Disturb” sign, so housekeeping kept bringing fresh towels during our nap.

We enjoyed a wonderful stay at the ryokan, which looked exactly like the photos and was impeccably maintained. Every detail was spotless, and the dinner and breakfast were excellent, with a very high overall standard. The staff were especially kind, welcoming, and always attentive to our needs, making the experience even more enjoyable. A lovely honeymoon gift added a thoughtful touch that made the stay feel extra special.

I was thrilled with my time at Minakamisansou; every minute felt special and I wish I had stayed longer than just one night. The atmosphere was very calming, and the private bath in my room was exactly what I needed. The bath’s window opened to nature, letting me enjoy fresh air while soaking. I chose a Japanese‑style room for a more traditional feel, and it delivered: tatami floors, a kotatsu, and a futon. All the amenities were present. Both dinner and breakfast were full‑course meals with small plates; some dishes were a bit experimental for us, but overall we liked most of them. The service was excellent despite the language barrier; the staff tried hard, using Google, repeating information, and gesturing. Thank you!

The spacious room, the food, and the indoor open‑air bath were all comfortable, and the morning coffee service was a pleasant touch, though it would be great to have options beyond just a coffee cup if we wanted to take it back to the room.
