What struck me most was the sea view from the room—absolutely beautiful—and the Japanese‑style room released a fresh tatami scent as soon as I entered; at dusk and night I could see wild boars and lots of rabbits, and the staff were all very kind. No negatives to mention.

It’s the only hotel on the island, so staying one night there lets you experience everything the island has to offer. Half‑board is included with many options (though no western food). The staff were very nice and offered optional entertainment. The hotel looks a bit dated but it’s clean. We enjoyed the onsen, which is also where you shower since the rooms have no showers. It was great to spend the evening, night, and early morning on the island.

The enthusiasm of the hotel staff amazed me; a long‑time employee (sorry, I can’t recall his name) spoke fluent, witty English. The “Sea Firefly Night” turned out to be the most memorable evening of my trip, with a teaching‑style interactive session that I enjoyed even without knowing Japanese, and the island’s little rabbits were adorable and friendly. The resort’s facilities felt a bit dated, and a renovation plus a few Western‑style rooms would improve things.

Although the hotel looks a bit dated and clearly has history, the room itself was surprisingly spacious. It has a private toilet, but for showering you have to use the shared public bath/onsen.

I felt close to nature and enjoyed the meals. Room 206 had gum stuck to the ceiling, and there was snack residue in a corner of the room.
