The resort is gorgeous and thoughtfully designed, with lovely sea views from the restaurant and main pool area—our villa, positioned behind others, didn't have a clear sea view. Our villa was huge, spotlessly clean, and beautifully styled, with very comfortable beds. The spa treatments were delightful. The food was good but pricey, and the staff were friendly. We enjoyed free yoga classes and a clifftop walk with Carlos. On the downside, there was no tea or coffee: we had a few complimentary coffee capsules in the villa (not refilled), only a small pot of herbal tea leaves, and the hotel coffee machine was broken the whole stay, so we could only get filter coffee. Even though 'black tea' was on the breakfast menu, staff seemed surprised when I asked for it and it was weak. I know I'm picky, but three days without decent tea or coffee was frustrating. The villa’s bed layout was odd: a master ensuite, a double ensuite, and then a double with a staircase down to another double sharing a downstairs bathroom with no doors, offering little privacy. The ground‑floor toilet had a glass wall and no privacy at all. The air pump/ground source heating pump was noisy in parts of the villa. These small details were surprising given the price. The walk to the beach was tricky: the first day we followed staff directions and ended up in a muddy bog to reach the steps; later we took a longer route along the road, which actually takes about 15 minutes to get down to the beach. We were disappointed that not all activities were available during our stay, especially the 'Circle of Fire' we were looking forward to, though the activities we did get to do were lovely.

The hotel was superb in every way—just fantastic, no negatives.

There was plenty of space and a close proximity to nature. The lighting concept was unbalanced. During dinner we had to pay 30 € for four slices of Brit, which was a bit pricey. The butter from the Azores wasn’t as sustainable as we’d hoped.
