“Interesting and good”
It was clean and I liked the location of the room. The room didn’t have a private toilet and shower area.
The host was very friendly and made the stay comfortable. No complaints.
I was able to relax. A cute cat was sleeping outside the house.
The building is beautiful and set in a quiet area. Even though my Japanese is minimal, I was welcomed in and could rest peacefully on the futon. The owner is kind and patient and helped me chat with other guests in the morning over a nice hot cup of coffee. She even handed me a freshly made onigiri when I checked out, which was a lifesaver on the road later that day. Be aware there are no stores nearby, so you will need to bring food with you from a convenience store or similar.
The Torahime Station is a bit farther away (about 20 minutes on foot), but you get great views of rural life and beautiful rice fields. The host Mayumi was very warm. The accommodation is a classic wooden house that she has lovingly renovated and furnished. If you want to escape the noisy, fast-paced city, this is a good spot. You can also easily bike to Biwa Lake.
