“Up hill Funchal - 😂😂”
It’s well positioned outside the main part of Funchal—though Funchal is all hill. The property is old‑style and very well presented, but the bed was a little too firm.
“Ideale Ferien im englischen Guesthouse”
The Quinta’s location is superb and the small, cozy English‑style units are delightful 🤩 Margarida is the star of the place, she handles everything perfectly and you can ask her anything! The nightly car noise and motorcycle riders are a nuisance, and a fan would help because it gets very humid at night. The daily wine tastings from the Blandy estate, held twice a day, keep guests in the garden with other travelers. Not all exterior doors lock at night.
Wonderful stay at a stunning location. The house is beautifully decorated and the room was enormous, almost like a ballroom. From the property you get a breathtaking view of the vineyards and the distant sea. It’s a decent walk to get there, but it’s definitely worth it. Breakfast is served buffet style and was delicious every morning. Throughout the day you can enjoy coffee and tea, with occasional fresh cake as a bonus. A vineyard tour is highly recommended during your stay. We were also warmly welcomed by Helen, who was incredibly friendly, helpful, and hospitable. Without a doubt, I would stay here again if I return to Funchal.
My sister and I were treated very familiarly and received warmly. The house has a great history and the on‑site vineyards and garden are really nice! The interaction with other guests was very interesting and lovely. From the garden you get a fantastic view of the city, especially in the evening. It’s worth walking around the neighborhood, but you should plan for a shower afterward because the alleys and small streets are very steep. The breakfast wasn’t elaborate, but it had everything you need, including fresh fruit, a dessert, tasty coffee, and you could grab pastries (like delicious Pastel de Nata) all day. If you don’t always want to eat out at night, you can cook dinner yourself in the large kitchen. Parking is right in front of the house, but don’t worry about tight turns and steep little streets. The bed linens and towels could use an update; they look as old as the house itself.
This is definitely one of the best, most beautiful, and most atmospheric places we’ve stayed at while traveling. I’m sure we’ll return! The host is wonderful, always energetic, helpful, and caring for guests. The energy of this amazing woman is incredible. The villa is gorgeous, rooms and bathrooms are spacious, and the common areas make the stay luxurious. The terrace overlooking the ocean and the hills around Funchal is a dream—truly stunning! A perfect spot for anyone. Breakfast is simple but made with quality ingredients: delicious pastel de nata, good coffee, orange juice, and fresh, homemade bread ❤️ I highly recommend it—absolutely, for anyone who came to relax in nature, hike levadas or high mountains, but also for those who came to explore the city or just wander around the island.
