Daniel and his wife were incredibly welcoming and made our stay in Tanna truly unforgettable.
The local meals were a real discovery and a treat.
The view of the volcano was absolutely stunning, and the ride to the accommodation was an adventure in itself.

“Nous ne nous attendions pas à ce que la vie sur place soit aussi décalée de notre mode de vie”
The view of the volcano was impressive, the large bed was comfortable, and the logistical support for arranging the volcano tour was helpful. The lack of light in the bungalow at night, especially in the bathroom area, was annoying, and the toilets leaked so we had our feet in dirty water; the shower water pressure was too weak for a proper shower. The children’s beds were uncomfortable, without sheets, only a blanket. The distance from the bungalow to the airport (2 hours of driving on a chaotic road) and to the volcano (1 hour of chaotic road) was in a pickup truck’s cargo area. If you want bottled water, you have to bring it yourself because it isn’t available at the bungalow. Payment was only in cash, with the tip because the host didn’t have change.
The family was incredibly kind and welcoming, the food was amazing, and the volcano tour was unforgettable. I highly recommend this place to anyone traveling to Tanna.
“A great experience and I'll definitely visit again.”
The location was nice and off the beaten path with a great volcano view. Listening to the volcano rumble while I slept was really cool. The host was amazing and I can’t wait to visit him again. My only request would be a more permanent power supply and hot water for the shower.
We had a fantastic time at Tanna Lava View Bungalows. The place is basic but Daniel and his family made us feel right at home with their warm welcome and his wife’s delicious home‑cooked meals. A guide took us to nearby villages, giving us a real look at life on Tanna. The photos online were spot on – we could see and hear the volcano from our bungalow, and the sunset view of the volcano itself was unforgettable. Thanks, Daniel! Just remember the drive to Isaka village is long and rough, so bring plenty of water and snacks. All in all, a truly special experience.
“Lovely location and overall an enjoyable experience, but very tainted by dishonest host.”
The village and location were lovely, with great views of volcano and surrounded by forest, and the meals were good. Upon arriving we were told that despite booking the 2 bungalows (travelling as a group of 3 friends - a couple, and a single), we now had to share one as the 2nd bungalow had been double booked “by accident through WhatsApp the day prior” according to the host. However he had clearly done double booking on purpose as the family staying in the 2nd bungalow had actually booked a month prior. To make matters worse he then tried to charge us for the 2 bungalows. In addition we were told a price for a watching a cultural dance by the village women, but by the next morning this price had increased, and I suspect the transfer back to the airport was double charged as our group and the family were both charged for a transfer in the one vehicle
