“The stay at Apollo Bay is a great place.”
The location is good. Upon arrival the message that was sent by text did not explain where the room was; I was called Tim and then she explained that it was around the back of the property. The sliding glass door, we could not lock the door when we were leaving to go out for dinner. I found that it wasn’t that clean. The kitchen needs a tea towel for drying dishes, and they need hand towels to.
“Easy Access, but Privacy and Bathroom Issues”
Getting there was a breeze, but the room’s big garden‑facing window meant I had to shut all curtains for a bit of privacy. The bathroom felt more like a hospital – no walls around the shower, just a curtain, and overall it could use some work.
“Unclean, Unprofessional, Not Worth It”
I wouldn't recommend staying here. The place was filthy – mushrooms sprouting from the shower, rotting floorboards, damp through the bedroom wall. The staff handled it poorly; a staff member came unannounced at 10:20 pm and told us we could leave, even though we were on the phone trying to resolve the issue. They eventually moved us to a different room, which was better only because it had no mushrooms. We never met the owner, but the condition and staff made us think better to look elsewhere.
“Disaster. It should not be promoted on Bookings. The host made me so angry my wife had to drag me away from him”
Nothing positive. This has to be the worst host I have ever met. I asked for two towels. He said they were on the bed. I said they weren’t, six times! He then asked what I wanted them for. I finally lost it with him and demanded an apology from me while delivering the towels that weren’t on the bed, but according to him “must have been stolen.”
“Good Room, Parking and Privacy Issues”
The room was a solid choice for a group of four – two large beds, a roomy shower, and a sink set apart from the toilet like in Japan. I did find a few bits of trash under the bed, so the cleaning might not be thorough. Parking was a hassle: the street in front is busy and not very safe, and the only back spot is a single one. It got dark at night, so we had to use our phone lights. The upper floor room had decent privacy, but the ground floor felt a bit exposed.
