Koyasan Shukubo Yochiin, a historic temple lodging on sacred Mount Koya, offers authentic Japanese tatami rooms with futon bedding, shared baths, and a hot tub. Guests can join meditation, sutra copying, and morning prayers. Vegetarian seasonal meals are available. The stone garden by Mirei Shigemori lies beside the sanmon gate. Nearby, Kongobuji and Danjogaran temples are within a 10‑minute walk.

The meals were excellent and the activities very engaging; everyone was welcoming, making it a wonderful discovery! Strolling around the temple was also very interesting. Visiting the cemetery and attending the morning ceremony are experiences I recommend without hesitation.

The temple is easy to reach, with the bus stop a few minutes' walk away. The monks greeted us warmly. Inside the temple you instantly feel at peace, and the room was spacious and basic (no bathroom). Dinner and breakfast are fully vegetarian but tasty. The tea ceremony, evening walk, and morning prayer are very unique to attend. There was also an onsen in the temple.

C’est un temple avec ses rituels ( cérémonie, méditation) qu’il fait bon de découvrir. Les tatamis sont confortables. Propose une sortie nocture au magnifique cimetière de Koyasan avec moine comme guide. Sommes restées 3 nuits. L’onsen est petit et ressemble plus à un bain thermal à bulles
