The view, the place, and the fact that it’s an oasis of peace and quiet at the end of the valley.

The location is great for reaching the Cevadale glacier, the Zebrù pass, or doing the Confinel loop. It’s a well‑equipped hut, but be aware that not all rooms have en‑suite bathrooms, there’s no TV, and the room only had a small wardrobe, so it’s clearly not a hotel. The place is well maintained and clean, the rooms are minimal, the staff are very friendly, and the owner Narciso is always ready to give route or weather advice. Dinner and breakfast are both excellent, though the variety isn’t huge and I expected some homemade cakes. Overall we were satisfied and I would recommend it to anyone looking for this type of vacation. The road from Santa Caterina to the hut is paved but a bit tricky; if I could give two tips, I’d suggest delaying dinner at least in summer because the days are long and people would like to make the most of the sunshine, so 18:45 feels a bit early, and another tip is to let the hard‑boiled eggs sit a couple of minutes longer in the morning.
