The setting was beautiful, historic, peaceful, and the rooms were charming, but we were locked out for about two hours when we arrived in the evening, which cut into our time to enjoy the plantation and grounds.

The plantation is gorgeous, the rooms are beautifully furnished with lake and main house views, the free cookies were excellent, and after breakfast we took a tour of the main house.

Breakfast was quick, tasty, and sufficient for a quick meal before heading out, though options were limited; the rooms were fantastic, each with a unique style and a view over the house and pond, and a small gas‑powered fire‑pit was great for evenings; Hal welcomed us at arrival with a brief rundown of the property, and Julie gave a brief tour before we left; the site is close to good local restaurants, including Francis Southern Table, which was perfect; the overall experience was tranquil, stunning, relaxing, and exactly what we needed after traveling; however, there was no alternative transport to local restaurants or attractions—no Ubers or taxis—so driving was necessary; we would have liked to stay longer, and additional activities such as a pool, archery, shooting, guided horse rides, a pool table, or a spa would have been nice, but the tranquility is ideal for a short stay.
