I felt right at home and the staff were friendly, but parking was a nightmare and they didn’t accommodate early‑morning arrivals.

We loved staying here because it’s within easy walking distance of Keswick’s main restaurants and shops; Vanessa, the host, was very attentive at breakfast, took care of our coffee needs, and suggested walking routes that made the trip even better. The twin room had a nicely sized bathroom, was spotless when we arrived, and after we stayed for a week we were happy to have updated towels delivered—something we’d seen in a review that the host hadn’t provided new ones before. Thoughtful touches like coffee facilities and a tray for muddy boots/shoes were handy for a Lake District walk. Breakfast was good and the stay felt peaceful. A bonus was discovering Hellvelyn’s street bakery, which we tried because of a recommendation and it was open one of the days we were there. I would gladly stay again. The only downside was that we were on the top floor; even with a fan the room got uncomfortably warm during early August, and like many UK properties it wasn’t air‑conditioned. A lower floor might have been cooler, but we didn’t try that. That was the only gripe and it’s to be expected in the hottest part of summer.

Paul gave me a fantastic welcome at check‑in, the room was very clean and cozy, the location is within walking distance to the town centre and the lake, and it’s very quiet at night!
