Yala Ying Yang Hostel & Camping sits 7.5 km from the entrance of Yala National Park. It offers basic facilities; if you want a wilder experience, it’s ideal. The staff are friendly and hospitable. Meals were delicious. The Wi‑Fi didn’t work, and the property was dusty.

The manager Dimu was very kind, always ensuring we had everything we needed. He showed us around areas with wild crocodiles, water buffalo, and the town. He’s really nice and the food he brought us was delicious. The man looking after the property was also nice. Nothing was missing – it was beautiful, at one with nature and wildlife.

Right on the edge of Yala National Park, the place was exactly what we wanted: surrounded by wild nature, and the friendly host took us on both an evening walk and a morning walk, showing us a pond with crocodiles and a beach while keeping us safe from the wild elephants. There was a small snake in our room, but that was expected and VERY COOL. The restaurant food surprised us – other reviews say it’s overpriced and not good, but that’s simply untrue; we had one of the best rice and curry dishes in all of Sri Lanka, with amazing seafood. The Wi‑Fi, however, does not work even though it’s advertised.
