“Best stay in our trip to Japan”
What a gorgeous place! The small town is fantastic, with many restaurants offering varied menus, and there’s a convenience store less than 50 m from the Ryokan. We booked the Japanese room and it was adorable—spacious yet cozy, which is hard to find. We slept on futons, but a bed was also available if we didn’t like futons. The highlight was our hostess, Mayumi, a sweet lady who greets you as soon as you enter. She loves chatting and was always ready to help. I loved meeting her and learning about the family-run Ryokan. She even altered the breakfast menu a couple of times during our week-long stay, offering bread after asking what we usually eat for breakfast. Parking was right next to the Ryokan and we could keep our car there for free. The onsen was amazing, with both rooms beautifully decorated and the temperature just right. At the end of our stay Mayumi gave us a small gift and a handwritten note, which I adored. They’re now building another space for tea ceremonies, so I’ll definitely return to try that.
The phone call when I booked was extremely courteous and left a great impression. The building feels like a time‑travel back to an older era, yet its charm shines through, and the room was spotless, offering a calm Japanese‑style space that I loved. I could have the bath all to myself, and the on‑tap hot spring water was of excellent quality, leaving my skin silky smooth—absolutely fantastic. The meals were explained in detail by the young proprietress, balanced and delicious Japanese fare. The only downside was that the women’s bath was a bit hot and there was no fan in the changing area.
