The lodge’s lakeside location and proximity to Kafue National Park were appealing. However, the drive from Livingstone is problematic: the road RD367 listed on Google doesn’t exist; it’s an unmarked trail only passable by a 4×4 off‑road vehicle with high clearance and off‑road experience. Instead, a ferry from Namwala to the D180 opposite the Kafue River near Shimbizi is available but not shown on maps.
“Bad”
The location was fine, but the staff were unhelpful, there was no air conditioning, and it was not worth the money.
I had a wonderful stay at the hotel, thanks to its great room, friendly staff, and peaceful surroundings. However, I was a bit taken aback by the fact that they only provided one bottle of water on the first day, which is something I've come to expect from most hotels. Additionally, the TV in my room wasn't working, which was a bit of a letdown.
The staff, food, and view were all fantastic, but the directions to the lodge were confusing and Zambia has very few major directional signs. Our room was old yet spacious, yet there was no place to hang bath towels, no bedside mats, and the TV was broken.
I was thoroughly impressed with the hotel's location and the breathtaking view it offered. However, my stay was slightly marred by a malfunctioning fan that failed to provide adequate cooling during the hot days. Despite this, I still managed to appreciate the hotel's overall charm.
