“Although we had to attend the Hospital the next day, we had a pleasant night in a nice hotel.”

The bed was very comfortable and we slept well; everything was clean. The waterfall was beautiful, and the sound of running water was soothing to mind and body. Other guests were quiet, with no arguments or drunken loud people. The staff were courteous and professional at all times. Parking was easy, just a few meters from our room. The microwave in the kitchen was too high for me to use safely, but my taller husband could manage it.

“Unprofessional - would not give any contact or consideration for a booking erro”

I received no response from the managers after I requested contact; the error was not acknowledged and no leniency was offered, even though I reached out within 30 seconds of getting the confirmation email and pointed out that the property was NOT suitable for my NDIS client. The whole situation felt very unprofessional and they just disappeared online.

“Big size hotel budget”

The room is spacious, offering a queen and a single bed, plus a balcony that lets fresh air into the room. The building looks old and rundown. The Smart TV couldn’t connect to Wi‑Fi, the curtains have holes, and a $100 deposit for security feels excessive.

“it was that bad I checked out the next day for fear for my safety...”

I could not contact management after hours to resolve issues, and when I explained the situation they refused to refund my money even though they knew the room was not secure. I complained that the room was unsafe and that I couldn't leave my belongings there for fear of theft, which prevented me from attending activities or sleeping peacefully. I sent photos and evidence, but their reply was pathetic: “We’re contacting you about your reservation 6680988975 at Cairns City Sheridan Motel (Friday, August 14, 2026 – Sunday, August 16, 2026). Unfortunately, we were unable to reach an agreement with the accommodation. As a token of appreciation, we will add 32.40 AUD in Travel Credits to your Wallet. You’ll receive a separate email once they’re available and ready to use.” There was no empathy about my safety or the mental and financial impact. I checked out the next day with nowhere to stay, had to stay awake until I left Cairns two days later, and I will never book here again.

“Wouldn't recommend”

Nothing the premises was filthy and looked like a low budget backpackers. Everything. The dirty room including holes in walls and exposed nails to the filthy nappies on the roof and empty wine bottles being used for ashtrays. Also didn't like the drug deals going on in the carpark amongst the rubbish. Residents scooping out our belongings in the car. Full refund requested as we left 10 minutes after arrival
