Hotel Klaus Störtebeker

Location: secluded, very quiet, surrounded by small farms, fields, and forest; close enough to start nice excursions around Rügen. Breakfast was good, everything needed was there, nice for in-between or bad weather. There was a billiard room and a small indoor tennis table. Room: mosquitoes and flies, so that might be expected. The whole room was covered in spider webs and spiders, dusty, and the old carpet looked unswept. No modern shower facilities in the room; the bathtub had no (high) shower holder and no shower curtain. During housekeeping only the trash bin was emptied. Indoor pool was actually nice, but I was pushed out of it in an unfriendly way by canoe lessons that were not announced anywhere.

The central location was very good for our activities on Rügen, and the hotel, staff, and food were all excellent. There is nothing to criticize.

I appreciated the quiet, even though the place is close to the traffic on Rügen's beach towns. The cleaning procedures weren’t clearly explained, which caused misunderstandings; a better system would be a room card with cleaning requests or multiple cleaning intervals, something other hotels already offer.

The location and calm were great, and the mattresses were excellent. The staff were friendly, but the room itself wasn’t properly cleaned—spider webs everywhere with dust from previous guests, trash still in the bin, a dirty shower, and no window screens, so we had to kill countless mosquitoes on arrival. The pool also needs more attention; the corners, floor, and changing rooms with showers are all noticeably dirty. It’s a shame, otherwise it would have been a nice place to relax.
