“I think I need a Tetanus Shot”

The front desk lady was friendly, and there was at least a Cracker Barrel for breakfast just behind the building. However, the rooms were old, dirty, and outdated; the pillows were small and uncomfortable, the linens had stains, and there were stains and splatters on the walls, ceilings, and toilet, plus rust in various spots. The room had an old musty smell, the furniture surfaces were worn and peeling, the paint was chipping, and the water pressure was awful—barely enough to rinse the soap, and the tub didn’t drain while showering, leaving you standing in dirty water. When I tried to swim, the pool was out of order and the online instructions seemed out of date. I asked about breakfast time, and they said, “We don’t serve breakfast anymore.” Seriously? I struggled to open the door each time because the door sensors were permanently confused. This place was barely inhabitable. They call it “Red Roof PLUS+.” Plus what exactly? “Four walls and a marginally comfortable bed?” If that was the honest tagline, that would be the most accurate. This place needs a reality show where they remodel, or just a demolition crew and start over to be fair.

The rooms were clean and comfortable, but the pool wasn’t open when we asked; the front desk said they didn’t know when it would open for the season. The only ice machine is on the 2nd floor, and I can’t climb stairs.
