“OK”
The bed was big. The breakfast was limited.
Breakfast choices were very nice, covering everyone’s tastes, and everything else was top‑level.
“Gorgeous dog friendly Lake District base 🐾”
The Daffodil Hotel’s location is absolutely stunning with comfortable and contemporary facilities and a great little spa after a long walk. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, made us and our dog feel very welcome. We will definitely return for our next Lakes adventure. There was an incident with our room in an otherwise perfect stay. Cleaning staff left our door open for a lengthy period and turned the electrics off with my dog’s food specially left in the cooler. When we approached reception to complain, the woman was very rude and completely unhelpful (she was an exception for the staff at the hotel), asked me what my problem was and what did I expect her to do about it! Not the best attitude for staff at a 4‑star hotel! I asked for an apology to which I got a surly “well sorry.” Luckily the manager overheard and responded appropriately. In future I will ensure that I make sure I use the safe and leave a note to not turn my dog’s food cooler off.
“Disappointed.”
The staff were fantastic. The hotel in the photos looks like it’s in the middle of nowhere, but it actually backs onto a main road. The lake view is magical, but you have to get close to really enjoy it and the hotel sits quite far from it. The interior is very basic, and the bars don’t feel warm or like a place you want to spend time, so we left the hotel at every opportunity, which was a shame. The corridors look dated and the floors were stained; the spa was pretty good, but we noticed a plaster on the floor for 3 days, so not sure it’s cleaned very well. Overall, it was a decent base, but sad it wasn’t a nicer place to stay.
“Beautiful and tranquil”
Beautiful and clean. Nothing
