The distance to Haichu Ta is just two stops away, and you can get there by taking the train and then a boat; the round‑trip boat fare is 8 € and the train round‑trip is 12.6 €, which makes staying here far cheaper than staying in Haichu Ta itself. The bathroom is tiny, so you have to keep things outside, and the toilet door is a peculiar oval sliding door that seems to be a design choice by the owner, requiring a bit of skill to open smoothly.

It’s a standard hostel where you share a room and all the facilities. The host greeted us warmly, explained the free parking spot and other details, and even offered tips on how to get around, which was a nice bonus. We only stayed one night as a base for Hallstatt, which is 12 km away, so there isn’t much more to add. Nothing major to complain about for a one‑night stay; you get what you pay for in hostels.

It’s centrally located, has very good tap water, and the rooms are clean. The WC and bathroom are cramped and cannot be locked, and the staff cannot speak German, which is a problem in Austria.
