There was a mix‑up with check‑in; I missed the text message on the morning of arrival that check‑in was at 4.00 pm not 1.00 pm, the hotel was closed on arrival, but it was sorted out by 3.00 pm; the location was close to the people we visited.

The room was clean, the bed comfortable, and the renovated bathroom spacious; we stayed in the end room in the ‘motel’ section beside the big hotel, so we had easy access to our room and privacy, but it definitely wasn’t a ‘superior room’; a few simple extras would have added value for the money we spent on 4 nights: bedside lamps; crockery and cutlery (apart from the 2 cups and paddle sticks provided) so the toaster and microwave could actually be used; some storage or shelving in the main room and bathroom so we could keep things off the floor—either provide the basics or charge less.

The room was clean, the food at the hotel was good, but the TV didn’t work and I couldn’t get to free TV channels—that was the one thing that let me down and can make a difference in customer satisfaction.

The toilet door was jammed and wouldn’t open, and the soap from the previous guest was still in the holder. The TV volume kept changing on its own, and the coffee cups were tiny. The bed was so uncomfortable that I kept leaning into the middle.
