How guests rate the property, aspect by aspect.
The room was spacious with a very comfortable bed, the staff were lovely when we arrived, and it offered good value for money with a good sleep spot for what we needed. However, it needs a major refurbishment; the rooms are dated and tired, the bedding doesn't match, and after a renovation it could become a very good hotel.

The staff were friendly. There was no shower head and a hole in the shower wall. The bathroom door is made of transparent glass, so privacy is limited. The toilet is a bit temperamental when it wants to flush. The window looks straight into a shed, which is not ideal.

The location was near the station. I booked to stay in the hotel but was placed in a separate building where people seem to live, coming and going all day and night, with people trying my door at 2 am. The bathroom was filthy, the shower was covered in mould, the back door wasn’t even closed or locked, and the lock was mangled so a small child could have pulled it open from the outside. I had booked four months in advance, and when I complained I was basically told I should have called if I wanted to stay in the hotel I’d booked instead of the building across the road, which was constantly smelling of smoke.

The price was good for what was offered. The receptionist could not locate the room for our booking, wasting 15–20 minutes during check‑in.

It was close to the train station. The heater was on for too long, and anyone feeling cold suffered.
