I liked the spot—right next to the Tongariro walks—and the vibe among the backpackers was great, with a nicely equipped kitchen. I upgraded to a room with a TV, but it never worked and no channel came on, which was a bit disappointing, though I was still happy to have a larger room with a double bed.

The kitchen was well equipped, the kids enjoyed the movie room, and the drying area for wet ski gear was handy. I didn’t sleep well because the walls were very thin, there was a lot of noise from the games room next door, and people in neighboring rooms and the hallway. No staff intervened when quiet‑time rules were ignored. Door codes were a pain, the mattresses were uncomfortable, and there was only a very thin blanket.

Big and clean kitchen. Plenty of storage facility for your food. Good wifi connection. Room heating was not working properly. Cold air blew from the air vents inside the room

“Super Basis für Wanderungen”

Man fühlt sich etwas wie auf Klassenfahrt, im Besten Sinne. Die Küche und Aufenthaltsräume sind sehr gut ausgestattet und man lernt schnell neue Leute kennen. Auch die Ausgangslage ist super für Wanderungen und Ausflüge. Die Sanitäranlagen waren auch in Ordnung. Check in und Check out kontaktlos und sehr einfach. Die Preise sind unschlagbar. Die Betten waren etwas sehr durchgelegen, und die Mülltonnen an der Küche waren sehr überfüllt, so dass man manchmal nichts mehr reinschmeissen konnte

“Peaceful Stay”

An old‑school lodge with plenty to like! I appreciated how easy my stay was—self‑check‑in and clear instructions everywhere made me feel comfortable. It was quiet during my trip, and the location fit my travel plans perfectly. The kitchen was well equipped and made cooking a breeze. The shower swallowed my face wash! The water channel between stalls sucked it into the drain, which was the size of my fist—don’t drop anything! RIP face wash.
