“Toll gelegenes, familiäres Hostel am Quilotoa-Track mit fantastischem Ausblick”
The dogs were the sweetest, the view of the canyon was great, the room was spacious; the owner was very kind and caring, and the dinner was tasty (also vegetarian).
“A warm, cozy, and wonderfully peaceful stay near Quilotoa, with spotless room and excellent food!”
Hostal El Vaquero turned out to be a fantastic find near Quilotoa Crater Lake. The rooms were comfortable, spotless, and incredibly cozy—exactly what we needed after a day of exploring. Our group booked three adjoining rooms connected by a small shared living room, which gave us the perfect mix of privacy and a shared space to relax. The hosts were exceptionally warm, friendly, and accommodating from the moment we arrived, and check‑in couldn’t have been easier. One unexpected highlight was the sauna and steam room, available for a small extra fee. After being out in the cool Andean air, they were fantastic. We were served dinner at 7 p.m. and breakfast the next morning, and both the food and service were excellent. Everything about our stay felt welcoming, relaxed, and thoughtfully cared for. I highly recommend Hostal El Vaquero. It’s a little off the beaten path, close to the spectacular Quilotoa crater lake, and perfect for adventurous travelers as well as those who appreciate comfort, peace, quiet, and good hospitality. And did I mention the adorable llamas? They were the perfect finishing touch to a memorable stay. **Five stars from us!**
A very pretty and cozy hostel with all the necessary facilities in the mountains! When we arrived we had to wait a bit for the staff to check us in.
The owners were very friendly and helpful. The location is great for continuing the trek to Laguna Quilotoa, a bit hidden from the center. Breakfast is basic but good. The rooms are small but cozy with plenty of blankets for the cold. The shower has hot water. Wi‑Fi is decent.
A wonderful family runs the place, the shared space is nice, and the food was good. The rooms are basic, not very clean but still nice and adequate.
