The location is great, just a short walk from the Sinharaja entrance, and the staff were very helpful. I’d like to thank Mr. Chanaka, Mr. Chamith, Mr. Sankar from housekeeping, Chef Mr. Dinura, and Mr. Pasindu, Charunda, Malith, and Shenal. The only downside was that the bathrooms lacked shampoo, conditioner, and body wash.
We were the only guests at the hotel, which made it feel deserted and not very cozy, even though the staff served us well. The location was perfect for visiting Niharaja Forest, but the rooms were very basic.
“Zum übernachten ok, mehr nicht.”
Good location, 10 min drive to the rainforest. Friendly staff and local food are very good, everything else is average. The breakfast is take‑away, and a picnic in the rainforest is great. The room’s older, very spartan furnishings make it unsuitable for daytime stays.
“Beautiful, but too expensive”
The hotel sits right on the rainforest edge, offering stunning views from the rooms and a brilliant ambience, and it’s a convenient base for visiting Sinharaja, with good roads for vehicle access. The rooms, including the bathrooms, are spacious and comfortable. However, I expected more value for the price we paid. The buffet dinner on the first night was insufficient for all the guests, while breakfast was adequate; I’ve had better breakfasts at cheaper homestays. The room was fairly new, but the balcony door didn’t seal properly, letting in insects—10 cm spiders, a frog in the bathroom, moths, and leeches, which bit us in bed. A properly sealed door would have prevented this. Construction was happening during our stay, and from the balcony you could see piles of rubbish dumped into the rainforest. For the price, I can’t recommend this place; look elsewhere.
“Die Lage des Birds Paradise Hotels ist für Naturfans einfach wunderbar.”
The lodge on the edge of the national park is simply impressive. We went to the nearby river, and it’s a beautiful place.
