I stayed on the Schulchensteig trail, and it was perfect for unwinding after a long day of hiking; the hotel is close to a supermarket and has nearby dining options.

“Unglücklicher Ausgang”

The reception was very friendly and the room was clean, but when we booked a side room for a class reunion, the tables were not set up—just randomly arranged, unlike the main restaurant where everything was perfectly arranged for another group. The food arrived lukewarm at the table, and drinks were only served on request, though the staff were very polite. The restaurant manager was arrogant when I raised my concerns; he said we had arrived too early (he himself had mentioned we could come earlier) and that there wouldn't have been time to set up, implying it would have been too busy. He added, “the guests are always right and they are stupid….” Unfortunately, I followed up by email and have yet to receive a response.

The location is very central, but the toilet and WC feel cramped, and there is only a sink in the hallway inside the room—hard to see how it justifies a DEHOGA 3‑star rating. The breakfast buffet, for example, would have been worth the price if it included scrambled eggs and bacon.

We used the hotel as a stopover for two nights on the Schluchtensteig hikes; the staff were extremely friendly, the room was well maintained and in a great location, the breakfast was excellent, and the restaurant had a Mediterranean flair that made us not want to go anywhere else—pure delight. There was nothing to complain about.
