“Wiederliches verhalten vom Inhaber”
The night was terrifying, and the owner’s reaction the next morning was even more appalling. Until about 3:30 a.m., a group of men who had just come from a nearby nightclub made a lot of noise, rattled our door handle, and even threw themselves against it, trying to get in. I was lying in bed when strangers tried to force their way into my room, and I had no idea who they were or why they were there. I called the hotel for help and even dialled 110, then had to walk more than half an hour to the nearest police station because this was clearly a safety issue, not just a few noisy guests. The next morning I told the owner what had happened, hoping for some acknowledgement, concern, or an apology. Instead, he was unfriendly, defensive, and dismissive, even trying to justify the situation by saying “this is just a three‑star hotel” and that safety behind a closed door is a luxury of four‑ or five‑star places. German Hotelstars rules say that even one‑star hotels must have 24‑hour availability by phone or digitally, and basic guest safety and respectful treatment should be the minimum at any hotel, regardless of rating.
