The restaurant served incredibly tasty food with very attentive service, the place was spotless and the room even had a microwave and a fridge that included a freezer, but the vending machine didn’t offer any alcoholic drinks.

Kawamata Onsen was beautiful and the hotel itself was impeccably clean; using the card key to leave and return was effortless, yet I would have liked a basket or bag for the amenities and a card‑holder loaned out because the key was easy to misplace, and because I was on a business trip the receipt could only be issued to my personal card, not my company.

“Decent hotel when you are passing by and need a place to sleep. Nothing fancy but clean, good onsen.”

The hotel was brand new, clean and pleasant, the onsen was good, there was a restaurant for dinner and breakfast (not included), the food was only Japanese; the bed felt a bit too hard for me, the rooms were very small, we barely fit in with all the luggage, the rooms should be a bit larger for comfort, I had to redo some pre‑booking steps at check‑in which was a waste of time, staff spoke limited English, the parking lot was full when we arrived, and the location is remote and not interesting.

Having a hot spring on site was a plus and I appreciated the reasonably sized glasses for drinks at breakfast as well as the satisfying side dishes, but the front desk staff—both the man and the woman—seemed unable to adapt to situations, and I found a plastic bottle under the bed that revealed a massive layer of dust.
