Hostel Samara

The terrace and bathroom were clean, and the large terrace allowed us to hang clothes for drying. We also had an outdoor shower and the central location was convenient; laundry service was helpful. However, the kitchen was not clean enough for us, with old and dirty cooking utensils. We had a much cleaner kitchen in Monteverde. The bedroom was too hot, and while the A/C worked, it was very noisy. There was no hot water in the shower. We were disappointed when we were told not to leave shoes in front of the bedroom door because of internal security reasons.

“Alles bestens”

Central Samara, great hostel vibe, basic but clean. Beach is a 5‑minute walk. Annie gave us solid tips. Just remember, it’s a hostel, not a 4‑star hotel, so don’t expect that level of polish.

“Welcoming hostel in Samara”

Annie and the crew are lovely and super helpful. The place is close to the beach, grocery stores, and the local bus. The room gets cleaned daily, the AC is good, and the kitchen and common areas are handy. Loved the cute kittens and the mama cat! The only thing that could use a tweak is the pillows – they’re a bit lacking.

“Clean, safe, close to beach - but I just can not recommend staying here”

Location is killer – just two blocks from the ocean, walk to restaurants, shops, and activity booking spots. Street noise is muffled by the fan/AC in the rooms, and the rooms stay clean with fresh linens and towels every few days. But there are a few major headaches. First, they only take cash, and only in colones. I was charged over 200,000 colones for a week in a private room, which comes out to over $70 a night.
