“Hotel, camera, la colazione non un gran che. Posizione molto buona. Nel complesso prezzo alto.”
We stayed at this hotel in two rooms for four nights at the beginning of October. The positives: the location is very close to Pimlico metro stop on the Victoria line, and directly opposite the hotel there is a bus stop 24, very convenient for reaching the city centre. The room had no carpet on the floor, which is already a plus by London standards. The breakfast area was accessible any time of day or night, with a coffee machine, hot water for tea, and freely usable cups. Because our room was very small and right next to the breakfast area, we used the latter almost every evening as an extension of the room; otherwise we would have been very cramped (though this may not be as convenient for other rooms and floors). The negatives: the room we were assigned was on the basement floor, very small, with a small window whose single sash could only be opened a few centimetres because it was tied with a string. There was no air‑conditioning (luckily it was early October so we didn’t suffer too much from the heat, but the described window made it hard to change the air). The room had only a nightstand, a shelf, and a hook with three or four hangers, so aside from coats and small items everything had to be left on the floor, which was very inconvenient given the room’s size. Fortunately, as mentioned, our room was right next to the breakfast area, so we managed to get a chair to at least put a few clothes on. The bathroom was very small, with a small sink. The only support was a small glass shelf under the mirror, which was broken, so everything that was put on it fell into the sink. The shower was fairly spacious, but the water tap was fixed (no adjustable height). Cleaning: when we arrived the room had been roughly cleaned, and to our knowledge it was not cleaned again during the four days of stay even though we left a sign on the door handle each morning asking for cleaning. Breakfast was fairly poor and not of great quality; most items (brioches, waffles, etc.) were packaged. In our opinion it doesn’t justify the price they charge for it. Luggage storage: the last morning after check‑out we asked if we could leave our luggage at reception and pick it up after lunch before heading to the airport. They answered yes but charge an extra £5 for each trolley and £3 for each backpack.
